Foundry French Artillery

As Promised here is the first part of a new Napoleonic Project.

We are concentrating on the French First so here we have some French Campaign Artillery crew. Guns and limbers to follow shortly.

These are painted to our Museum standard.

The blue is Vallejo Dark Prussian blue for the base coat. Followed by a 50/50 mix of Dark Prussian blue and Royal blue. Then highlighted with an 80/20 mix of Royal blue and sky blue for the highlights.

The Red is Vallejo Black red base coat followed by Vallejo RED.

  1. Your painting skills are fantastic but if I may offer one tiny criticism - the blue is way to well... blue. French Artillery uniform blue was so dark its almost black - probably fading to a dark blue on service? The reds look right - I like that dark brick red which from the epaulettes I've seen is about right - most people paint them far too red! Great blog and terrific painting.

    Cheers,
